The District Coffee

Crafted coffee. Genuine community.

Thoughtful coffee for everyday people, inside a restored 1909 schoolhouse in Dorr

Crafted Coffee, Made With Care

At The District, crafted coffee isn’t just a tagline. It’s how we do things. Every drink starts with quality: house-made syrups, locally sourced honey and maple, ceremonial-grade matcha, and rotating single-origin pour-overs that change with the season. Whether you order a cortado, a flat white, or your usual vanilla latte, you’ll taste the difference that comes from doing things the right way instead of the fast way.

Inside our beautifully restored 1909 schoolhouse in Dorr, MI, we believe great coffee deserves great care — from the beans we choose to the hands that pull every shot. Pair your drink with fresh baked goods or one of our gluten-free treats, and settle in for a cup that’s worth slowing down for.

A Schoolhouse Rooted in History

Step inside a piece of Dorr’s history. Our coffeehouse lives inside a schoolhouse built back in 1909, lovingly restored to keep its original character while giving it new life. The original woodwork, tall windows, and high ceilings still tell the story of the building’s past — a constant reminder that this space has always been about people coming together.

Where generations of local kids once filled these halls with the noise and energy of school days, neighbors now gather over a cup of crafted coffee, swapping stories and catching up on the day. The faces have changed, but the purpose hasn’t: this has always been a place where community comes together.

We believe a good cup of coffee is really just an excuse to bring people together, whether that’s a quick morning stop or a slow afternoon with friends. See why this old schoolhouse is once again at the heart of the community. We would love to welcome you in!

After Hours at The District

The District was built to be a gathering place. A place where neighbors meet, families pause, and conversations happen that wouldn’t happen anywhere else. Inside the walls of a historic schoolhouse, the community continues to gather.
That spirit doesn’t stop when the espresso machine powers down for the night. After regular business hours, The District opens its doors for private events — birthday parties, showers, rehearsal dinners, team gatherings, workshops, and celebrations of every kind. With room for up to 40 guests, our historic schoolhouse setting offers something most venues in the Dorr area can’t: real character, a warm atmosphere, and crafted coffee on hand to make any gathering feel a little more special.
Looking for a space that feels different from the usual banquet hall or hotel ballroom? Reserve The District for your next after-hours event.
